Strategic PlanFARB Strategic Planning Workshop August 3-4, 2007, Boulder, ColoradoEvanston, IL, October 8, 2007 — The Federation of Associations of Regulatory Boards today posted its first Strategic Plan on its Web site. The plan identifies the vision, mission, values, and goals shaping FARB’s activities in the coming years and details the initiatives being undertaken to achieve FARB’s goals. The workshop took place Friday and Saturday August 3 & 4, 2007 at the Rembrandt Yard art gallery in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop was facilitated by Michael Barrett of Resonance, LLC and was attended by the following representatives from FARB’s full member associations: Bill Hatherill – FSBPT: Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy Below is a short summary of each day’s progress: Day One:The first day was split into three parts to lay the necessary groundwork for FARB objectives. The first part of the day involved drafting Mission, Vision and Value statements. Attendees worked in smaller groups which then narrowed ideas to for additional discussion. During the second part of the day attendees tallied the votes and further discussed the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) statements prepared through discussions prior to the workshop. The SWOT’s receiving the highest number of votes were identified. The third part of day one involved identifying FARB’s Key Differentiators to be:
Day Two:Day two involved a recap of day one’s progress followed by consensus on FARB’s Mission, Vision and Value statements. Thereafter, the strategic objectives were identified and priorities determined. In order to further refine FARB’s strategic objectives, participants identified key initiatives to focus on the "Next Steps" and initiate the action plan. Two major areas of focus for the FARB Board of Directors were identified:
A committee was formed to examine the organizational structure of FARB with a report date in November 2007. Numerous additional initiatives were identified as potential fertile ground for FARB to explore in an attempt to assist its member associations. The strategic planning generated much enthusiasm for FARB as it continues to examine services and programs to benefit the membership and the public they serve. |
